Creative Director
Maxar Technologies | 2013 - Present
As the Creative Director for Maxar, my ability to translate complex ideas, understand leading-edge technologies, and bridge marketing strategy with creative tactical execution allows me to lead my team of talented designers, developers, videographers, and animators as we make the complex understandable and create engaging and compelling content to tell the Maxar story. The breadth, depth, and technical complexity of the content provides tremendous creative opportunities while requiring an understanding of the underlying systems, technologies, and processes. I bring a heaping helping of nerd to the table... which helps a bit.
The Creative team is Maxar’s internal design agency. Our primary focus is Maxar visual brand and marketing support for the CMO organization. We also provide design services to the global Maxar organization comprised of over 4,000 team members supporting B2B and government sales, HR, and facilities.
Maxar has experienced significant strategic change through multiple mergers and acquisitions over the last seven years. In that time, I have successfully led the team through continuous marketing strategic realignment, four dotcom launches, the integration of multiple legacy brands, the expansion to four distinct brands, and the consolidation to one—three separate corporate rebrands within one year alone. Through all of the change, we effectively collaborated with the sales, product, and marketing organization to win business and drive revenue.
Email Marketing Manager
OtterBox | 2011 - 2013
I joined OtterBox to provide insight and expertise to implement email marketing campaign automation, consumer loyalty, and online customer support communications strategies to support OtterBox’s strategic growth. Prior to my arrival, OtterBox did not utilize email marketing automation and did not focus on SEO or SEM. I was part of an initiative to bring additional marketing, technical, and design experience to the e-commerce team.
As part of the e-commerce team, I worked closely with the web team, including SEO and SEM, to integrate data and behavior-driven email campaign automation with both dotcom and OtterBox’s CRM and ERP platforms.
Ineractive Marketing Lead
IBM-InfoPrint Solutions | 2008 - 2011
InfoPrint Solutions was a joint venture between Ricoh and IBM. InfoPrint focuses on large format, high volume digital printers in the B2B space. As part of the digital marketing team, I developed and supported a wide variety of InfoPrint’s strategic marketing initiatives. With a narrow market, high product cost, and long sales cycles, we developed content and campaigns to create long term engagement, loyalty, product education, and interactive campaign assets to create engagement in the digital printer market.
My responsibilities included:
Management of InfoPrint’s Eloqua email marketing and communications program including:
Digital Media Developer
CTSi | 2001 - 2008
My time at CTSi coincided with the explosive growth of the internet and the transition from traditional print media to digital. While the web had been around long enough for the dotcom bubble to form and burst, online marketing was in its infancy and social media was just emerging. Responsive web design wouldn't be defined until 2010 and email marketing was the Wild West—CANSPAM came around in 2003. Adobe didn't own everything, QuarkXPress ruled desktop publishing, and we still delivered files on Syquest. In this dynamic environment, I was a Swiss Army Knife digital designer, full-stack web developer, systems administrator, network security monitor, and email marketing manager. It was a tremendous opportunity to dive into and cut my teeth on a broad range of emerging and maturing technologies.
